Cardo vs Rambo

Ricardo Dalisay vs John Rambo: The Long-Awaited Matchup

 May 16, 2022

WHO' S BETTER?

There are numerous tv shows and action movies that has strong and godly main characters, but Cardo and Rambo just hits different. Let' s discuss below on what aspects do they differ from each other and on what they have in their pockets.

 Ricardo Borja Dalisay (Ang Probinsyano)

Ricardo B. Dalisay legally named Ricardo De Leon or Cardo De Leon, or simply known as Cardo Dalisay, is the main protagonist of 2015 longest running action crime drama Philippine television series, FPJ's Ang Probinsyano. He is the twin brother of the no longer alive Ador De Leon, who serves as a minor protagonist until he was shot and killed by a corrupt policeman Joaquin Tuazon in the fourth episode before Cardo was the main protagonist of entire series.

The twins were separated from each other due to Cardo having a sickness and he had to be moved to another country. Their lives suffered a big turn when Ador was killed during a human-trafficking operation by Joaquin Tuazon. Later on in his career he tackled more cases to find the culprit. He even becomes a traffic enforcer, a SAF trooper, and a member of the Task Force Agila.

He is portrayed by Coco Martin who also played Juan Dela Cruz in the television series of the same name. Teen Cardo was played by Nash Aguas and and young Cardo was played by Filipino child actor, Izzy Canillo.

John James Rambo (Rambo Film Series)

"You know what you are. What you're made of. War is in your blood. Don't fight it. You didn't kill for your country. You killed for yourself. God's never gonna make that go away. When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing."
―John Rambo

John James Rambo is the main protagonist of the Rambo film series and David Morell's novel First Blood. A former Vietnam veteran and highly skilled Green Beret, Rambo returned from the war as a decorated, but disturbed hero. He is filled with self-loathing and hates killing, but is willing to use his skills to protect those close to him. This is the general plot line of the four First Blood sequels. The main character of the series, Rambo appears in all the films. The only character to come close to this is Sam Trautman, his mentor and commander in Vietnam.

Although Rambo appears to be a butch action stereotype, the character of John Rambo is actually a broken and emotional man. He has witnessed all of his friends die, was not loved as a child, faced unbearable terrors in Vietnam, returned to a country that rejected him, then was seduced back into combat where he killed hundreds more people before finally being left alone and miserable, unable to forgive himself for what he has done. At one point, Rambo stated that he had wasted his life fighting for things he thought he believed in. By the end of the series, Rambo hates himself and has lost his faith in humanity, God and the concept that things will get better for the world, due in no small part because of the horrors of war he experienced. Rambo did get better at the end of the series when he returned home, but he is no doubt plagued by nightmares from his post-traumatic stress disorder. The character has more emotional depth than most people would think based on what popular culture has depicted Rambo as, and Sylvester Stallone's performance has been widely acclaimed. The character was nominated for American Film Institute's list 100 Years… 100 Heroes and Villains.

Rambo's covert missions behind enemy lines were also quite accurate to real Vietnamese War tactics. The way the character fights, is in some details (such as weapons and modus operandi) based on soldiers that fought anti-guerrilla warfare during the Vietnam war.

DIFFERENCES

Cardo is a well spirited policeman who despises criminals and has a short temper unlike his brother Ador.

He often scared criminals and even picked up fights with some fellow policemen that he had to be transfered to the Highway Patrol Group. He learned his lesson after he got back to the CIDG.

He is also seen as bloodthirsty and misguided in some occasions. After the arrest of his granduncle Delfin in a framed-up charges, he turned out completely unhappy, devastated, and lost his coolness and patience.
